Kaya's First Hair Cut
Kaya's hair has been growing and growing lately! She's really looking like a little girl! She wears clips and even ponytails. Unfortunately, her method of self-soothing is to suck on her index and middle fingers on her left hand, while twirling her hair with her right hand. This longer hair means lots and lots of tangles.
We've been keeping her hair in a ponytail all of the time, and she twirls the ponytail. This has been working, but not at night time. Last Friday night, about an hour after she'd gone to bed, Kaya started SCREAMING. I went running into her room and she looked at me and said "Mama, hair stuck." Her finger was stuck in her hair and the tip was turning blue. We had to snip that little bit to release her finger.
The next morning she woke up with a bigger knot than she'd ever had in her hair and she went straight into the tub for a hair cut. There was no other option. Of course, I documented it all for you to see (excuse the huge number of pictures!):

...and then it was gone.
Seriously, it was about 2.5" of hair that we cut off!
Of course, it dried a bit shorter, but it's cute and full of body.
