We just returned from a trip to Colorado for a wonderful friend's wedding! We got out there a few days early so we could enjoy Colorado and do some hiking. We ended up only doing one large hike, but it was a good one.
Kaya spent most of the hike like this asleep on Mike's back.

...but she did get to enjoy some of the beautiful Colorado scenery.

This was also Kaya's first plane trip. She was a trooper. We had two legs to each trip. That's a lot of takeoffs and landings, but she held it together and made it through in one piece (and without bothering the other passengers too much!).

I took this picture in the airport while we were waiting for our plane to board. That is our plane behind Kaya and she got a little plush one to take home!

We lucked out by having an empty seat next to us for one leg and Kaya got to sit by herself for a bit. She didn't spend too much time there, but it was nice to have my lap to myself for the time that she did sit and play.
All in all it was a great trip, and we are all happy to be home now with regular naps and a predictable schedule. I'm sure I'll come up with more CO pics to share as I process them. Be on the lookout!
Kaya has been so busy lately! She's full of firsts. She went in her first ball pit at her friend Molly's house:

Buddy liked it too!

...and I just couldn't NOT post this picture of her. Oh so cute!

Kaya has been trying out finger food too. Tofu is very squishy and very yummy!

Check out how big big our little is getting... she's grown out of her infant carseat and is now in her big girl carseat. She'll still be rear facing until she's 20lbs, which for Kaya will be a LONG TIME AWAY.

Oh, before you go, can you read Kaya a book?

This past Sunday I left Kaya at home with Mike, Meme, and Pepe all day long! It's the longest I've ever left her, and really the first time other than a quick trip out somewhere between feedings.
No surprise, everyone did great! They went up to Mike and Naomi's favorite neighborhood park and took this lovely picture. Both of my girls look so happy!

This may not convince me to leave her for whole days more often, but it is great to know that she's a confident little girl who is just fine in most any situation!
Kaya turned 7 months old on Independence Day. She got to go to two fireworks displays and was mesmerized by the first and totally slept through the second! It was really incredible to watch the fireworks through her little eyes. They were some pretty crumby fireworks, from a bad vantage point, but (not to be too sappy) they were the best we've ever seen!
Unfortunately there are no pictures of Kaya watching fireworks, but there are pictures of her out to lunch that afternoon. This kid is all into the solid foods!

...well, maybe not lobster quite yet, but next year I'm sure she'll get some little bits! Kaya really is eating very well. Lots of grains (rice, oats, and barley), egg yolks, fruits and vegis, and she just gobbles them all down. We have a weight check for her this Friday to be sure she's gaining well, and I can't imagine she's not with the volume she's been eating!
Kaya is sitting up very well now and will sit and play for a very long time. She's not as happy laying down any more but can now roll both from belly to back and back to belly. Locomotion isn't far off!
I'll leave you with a close-up of this seven month old beauty.
