Kaya has graduated from taking a bath in a hammock over her baby bath, to sitting in a small tub of water inside of the big tub!

She took a nice long cool bath yesterday in the hot weather. She was running a bit of a fever (her first), and I thought that a bath might make her feel better. She was playing just fine. This doesn't look like a sick baby to me!

Kaya learned to splash yesterday and played with her fancy blinking rubber duckies. Bath time was never so cool!
After a bath and a nap she still had her fever, but one dose of Tylenol brought it down and she slept well last night. She has a low fever again this morning, but is still acting fine. My best guess is that it's her teeth acting up. When will they finally break through?
Sunday was Mike's first Fathers' Day! We had a lovely day outside together. A walk around the reservoir, a mini carnival, a parade, a picnic lunch... a great day all around!
Kaya wanted to share some of her favorite pictures from that day, and from Mike's first softball game of the season.

Why would Kaya want to nap when she could watch the fish instead?

That has been the question of the week. I think she's paying for it now though, it's 9AM and she's been napping since 7! She woke up at an unusually early 5:30 this morning. We'll see how the rest of the day goes!
My friend's baby Rachel is sick. She is going through aggressive chemo therapy for bilateral retinoblastoma (eye cancer). You can check on her story at her CaringBridge site, but the quick and dirty is that she has tumors in both of her eyes, but they are responding to treatment and she been able to avoid the removal of her eyes so far! (That is the normal treatment for this type of cancer if it is only in one eye or not responding to treatment.)
Her friends have been trying to raise money for the family in any way possible, and here's another really really fun one! My best friend Miranda just wrote a book! It's called "Rapid Duck" and is a super sweet story about a little adventurous duck and the animals he meets. Miranda wrote and illustrated the book and all of the profits will go to help with Rachel's medical bills.

This would make a nice gift for any little person in your life, while also helping a young family in need. Hey, if you live locally I can even get it signed for you!
Now go hug your littles and be thankful they are healthy. I'm snuggling Kaya right now!
I really can't delay posting Kaya's 6 month pictures any more! I know you've been waiting! Here are the two best, and out-takes will come later. Kaya decided to wake from her morning nap a bit early today, so I'm posting with an audience... and an impatient one at that!

Kaya's tongue is almost always sticking out these days! She loves it and knows that it makes us smile!

Apparently turning 6 months old makes a baby introspective. She asked me earlier if her first year was half over, or if there was still half to go! Silly girl!
