We've been busy over here learning about the world! Kaya has more playdates than and baby I know, and we are out and about as much as possible. ...of course, every day is a playdate with Buddy, but we like to hang out with some other babies too. On Monday we had 7 other babies and their moms here! Woah babies!
Kaya has been busy discovering her thumb:

This is now another sign, along with rubbing her eyes and burrowing into my shoulder, that she is tired. It's very sweet, don't you think?
She's been sleeping wonderfully lately, with a few nights going from 7PM to 6AM! Unfortunately the teething is taking over and she's having a tough time again. I thought she bit off my thumb last night, she chomped so hard on it, but it's still there. Phew! With the way she woke up yelling at 5:30 this morning I was sure I'd go in to find a new tooth, but still not yet. A snuggle with us put her back to sleep until 7. Who knew teething could be so tiring?
Kaya has recently started teething. She's gone from sucking on things that go into her mouth, to chomping on them... hard. Watch out for your knuckles! Need more evidence? Exhibit 1:

Thankfully the teething has come on the heels of hand eye coordination! Kaya is getting really good at moving toys directly to her mouth. This bunny toy, that my mom made Kaya for Easter, is her absolute favorite at the moment. It keeps her happy from 5:45 until it's time to get ready for bed around 7:30 every night!

Who knows how long this initial teething will go on before the first tooth breaks through. Hopefully Kaya will keep on being a happy teether, just as long as those toys keep being put in arms reach!
Kaya had her four month well visit today at the doctor. She got high marks in everything! Yeah for Kaya! She's almost 13lbs now and is 24.75" long.
Unfortunately her prize for growing so well was three shots.

At least she gets some bling with that sting! Thankfully she's sleeping it off and seems to be reacting very well to the shots. I hope she keeps it up tonight and is her normal self tomorrow!
Kaya was 4 months old yesterday, and despite the dreary weather, grey skies, and SNOW in April, we took some fun pictures! I couldn't let you down now, could I?

Kaya smiles quite a bit, but when she isn't smiling she has this serious face on. I wanted to document it before it was gone. She's a thinker. Some day brilliant thoughts will come out of her little mouth.
But what's a month without a silly picture? No, nothing too death-defying this month... did I mention the SNOW? Easter is around the corner though, so I pulled out all of her stuffed animals that fit with the holiday and she was thrilled!

...Naomi was thrilled too, until she figured out that they were baby toys and not dog toys. Maybe if she's a good doggie the Easter Bunny will bring her a toy too!
We spent last weekend visiting my dad's family. We haven't seen them since Christmas day and there is a huge difference between a 3 week old baby and a 4 month old baby!
My dad's family is incredibly close, like all families should be, and when Kaya and I got to my grandpa's house (her great-grandpa's house as he likes to remind everyone) my aunts and uncles were soon to follow. It was really great to see everyone.

Grandpa is getting older and crankier as most people do, but when Kaya is set in his lap he grins and coos with the best of them. We'll definitely be back to visit soon!
